Skarselden is a linguistic capsule and literary magazine made by four Swedish emigrants. The work begun in 2020 when we started noticing our Swedish changing and possibly deteriorating. We share an experience of both a growing language, where English and Swedish complements each other, but also a stuttering, a language cracking at the seams and fading away. Skarselden celebrates stuttering, complementing and inheritance. All pieces in Skarselden are written in two languages where we try to get a perspective on language – what happens when Swedish and English are separated and when do we want them to be brought together?
